Another great performance by the brothers Sunkel and the band at the last Triad show! Guess I'll have to survive on the albums until the next round of shows. Keep 'em coming!

Proud, deeply and gratifyingly PROUD is the most prominent emotion (of many) that I felt watching my DM dream come true in that perfect venue. WHAT an unbelievably wonderful treat. Set selection and order, obviously well thought through and beautifully executed. The new horn arrangements for the live versions, I can't say enough about. Likewise the vocals. I already have Joyce's email and boy is she gonna get a beautiful letter. God I had such a good time. By the way, Bill was in tip-top voice. Sound levels and mix – under the circumstances physically, given that such a large ensemble could be a hurricane of sound and power, DM's "holding in the reins" theory was in action, and yet with the control of the world class professionals that filled that small stage, it still came across with balls when called for. As for Tony (my BOY!) – GOD is that guy perfect for DM! To me, he is so integral to the overall sound and character of the songs. His flavor, sound settings, and note choices just bowled me over. Rob's pulling off "Desiree" and "Big Bad Brother" live was amazing, and again those horn arrangements and the way the whole band made it all come together seamlessly, and made to look easy, when I know full well controlling that much sound takes world class musicians. The cover choices were top shelf and chosen obviously, not only cuz they rock and are great crowd pleasers and party dancers, but to feature the horn players as soloists. And how bout that a capella work-up of Ageless Beauty? Whew!!!!!!!!! Treated like a revamped old classic, awesome.
Oh, and lest I forget about that beautiful, beautiful gesture of asking me to stand and acknowledging my role in the realization of the live performance big band DM. What a lovely, affirming moment that was, I can't thank you enough for that or for putting on such a dynamite concert. Joyce was right: this thing needs to be taken to a festival somewhere. So that's my report. Proud, I'm SO proud.

Thanks so much for last night's show. You guys were so great as usual. My
friends Nancy and Samantha were there, and we all saw Steely Dan, which was
great, but we all agreed that you guys were much more rockin' then they are.
We had an awesome time.
Bill -- you were seriously as quickly funny as Todd [Rundgren] is on stage - I was
extremely impressed. Not to mention your amazing musical talent and songwriting abilities. WOW.

Great pic's! What a great night it was - and these snaps cover it. If the band looks like they were having fun, it's because they were! It was just electric. Kudos to BSArtist for capturing the 'feel' of the evening.

What a great night down at Montana Studio! For those who missed it... what can I say - it was a night to remember. The band was so tight; truly great musicians punching out some great tunes. There were so many 'moments' throughout the performace, I don't know where to start. The horn section was amazing! They totally laid me out during 'You Really Opened My Eyes' and 'Glosalalia'.
The background vocals were sweet throughout, but especially stunning during "Congratulations and Goodbye' - one of my favorites.
Rob punched out a nawesome lead vocal in "Big Bad Brother'.
And Ethan.. the guy is just a great percussionist.
Tony's guitar playing was totally awesome throughout and we were treated to one of his originals.
Bill was in great voice throughout the night, but the performace of "Everything Breaks' was the best - moving to the point of tears.
What more can I say?
Thanks so much to Bill, Rob, Tony, Ethan, Mike, Brian, Mark, Keith, Joyce, and Byron.
Sorry to those of you who missed it... but if we're lucky, maybe they'll DO IT AGAIN!

Believe it or not I finally got a chance to listen to it today! I played it about 4 or 5 times while I was working in the office today. Needless to say, I enjoyed it, particulary glossolalia and guilty pleasures. Bill, I can't believe you let Rob record big bad brother! Anyway, now that I have listened to it, i liked it a lot. I think this album really shows a lot of the Steely Dan influence.

Having had the honor and privledge of appearing on guitar on the first two albums, I know first hand they were exceptionally good. But SIT is a very, very special accompishment for the guys, and is exceptionally GREAT. It has not left my cd player and it has inspired me and moved me deeply. Each and every song stands as a testimony to the continued creative evolution on every level for Bill and Rob. Oh, and Tony? You slick dog! As a guitarist, I raise my Merlot and say, 'Salud'! Skunk Baxter himself couldn't have filled out this album with better guitar artistry and sensibility. Guys, SIT is a Wonder and an achievement that I personally am committed to seeing enrich the lives of very, very many! I love you guys so much!

Hey Bill! This is your old pal Chuck Carlino, from back when you had your recording deal with Laurie Records! We enjoyed your tunes ("Kids Know How to Dance," et al) for many years until our old cassette finally snapped. I'm really glad to learn that you're still out there making great music. Your talent is way too big not to continue! Chuck C.
